MORE GREAT IMAGES FROM THANET’S CAMERA CLUB

The season’s last club competition featuring digital projected images attracted over 60 entries from members of the intermediate and advanced groups. Philip Hinton ARPS from Ashford CC had the task of judging a wide range of images. Winner in Group 1 was Terry Scales with his image “Arlington House Car Park View” (attached) Group 2 was won by John Myer with “Dickensian Man”. The club has also enjoyed some excellent speakers. Ian Howard led a discussion on “the philosophy of your photography” and posed some questions including why we take photographs. Club members have also been busy giving talks. Laura Drury LRPS gave a fascinating talk on iconic images and the stories behind them, featuring some famous photographers, whilst Rod Giddins completed the evening with a selection of “reflections” and why they often capture our imagination. More recently, John Draper gave an excellent presentation on the development and use of Audio Visuals, showing some of his wonderful images set to music. The Analogue Group also provided an entertaining evening demonstrating how film and other media can still produce high quality photographs. Our club is open to all, whether new to photography or more advanced. There is something to inspire everyone to become a better photographer – and we have groups dedicated to nature, street and analogue photography. Competitions are open to all members but are completely optional.
